A dear friend is with us no more. Pat Rock passed away this morning, October 3, 2020, following complications after heart bypass surgery at Abington Memorial Hospital. She was fortunate to be able to see or talk to all of her immediate family prior to passing.
Since Bill’s passing in 2017, Pat was able to refocus her life on her family and her friends. Pat was Mom to 6 children, 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
I was fortunate enough to be able to share in her life in those intervening years in many wonderful ways…..cycling with her, meeting for breakfast or lunch, helping her out in her garden….always coming away with a smile and another “short story” that Pat insisted I hear. I never tired of listening and always encouraged her to "pen" her memoirs.
Both Pat and Bill were always twin pillars of support for Suburban Cyclists Unlimited (SCU). They volunteered their time over and over, and even their home for many SCU activities and meetings. Pat will always be remembered for her infectious smile and her love of storytelling…even the short ones were long!! She truly loved SCU, its members, and all that it offered her over the years…..it was her second family.
Both Pat and Bill are irreplaceable in our hearts and now they are together again on that crazy yellow tandem…all smiles and laughter! Never forget those memories…they are part of all of us, and we were all made a little bit better for having had the good fortune of having both Pat and Bill in our lives.
