I would be truly honored if you elected me to lead this dedicated team for another year. If elected, this would be my eighth year on the Executive Committee over the past 11 years and my sixth as President. (I have also worn Ride Director and Quad Director hats.) I am hoping to lead the Executive Committee and all of SCU through this crisis and towards something approaching normalcy in the coming year. As a member since 2005, I have enjoyed all kinds of rides with the members of this club from fast-paced weeknight workouts to relaxed weekend rides to multi day camping trips. For me, the past 15 years with SCU have meant excellent riding in fine fellowship, and I’ll work to make that true for every member.

I am running again for the role of Executive Committee Secretary.

I served two terms recently as EC Secretary and have been an active SCU club member since 2013, as well as Merchandise Manager since 2017. A recreational cyclist for many years, since joining SCU, I evolved from a local leisure rider averaging 15 miles per ride at 9mph on the SRT, to an international active rider completing 45-70 mile rides at 14mph or more. Two Nockmixon rides, three Quad Counties, multiple times volunteering at the Quad, Philly Bike Expo, Endurance Sports Expo, and club ride events make up my history with SCU.

As returning Secretary, I'll continue to bring a wealth of skills to the role. I'm organized, reliable, dedicated to the Club, and will attend all EC meetings. I work well with the Executive Committee as well as the Club to encourage more members to attend meetings and sponsored Club events.

If you re-elect me Secretary, we’ll have a great year in 2021. I have a lot of good ideas for things the club can do.

I am currently Treasurer of Suburban Cyclists Unlimited. My current employment is with Voynow, Bayard, Whyte and Company, LLP (VBW), in which I specialize in the area of accounting and auditing in commercial and residential real estate, construction activities and employee benefit plans.  In addition, my primary responsibilities include performing and supervising audits, reviews, compilation and tax engagements.

In the field of taxation, I am proficient in advising clients on partnership taxation matters which include special allocations and real estate taxation. Also, I am involved with training and continuing education for VBW, working with professionals throughout the firm to develop a firm-wide learning culture.

I have more than 30 years of experience in public accounting and joined VBW in 1986. Prior to joining VBW, I worked at two other accounting firms in the Philadelphia Area in which a large amount of my time was for pension and health care plan audits and individual tax filing preparation.

I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science (now known as Thomas Jefferson University – East Falls Campus) and graduated 1983. I also passed the Certified Public Accountant examination during 1983 and I have been a license Certified Public Accountant since 1985 in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. I am current member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  

Currently, I am a member in the Suburban Cyclists Unlimited, the Bicycle Club of Philadelphia and Central Bucks Bicycle Club. I have been involved in group riding for the last six years.  Currently, I bike approximately 4,000 to 5,000 miles per year.

My name is Curtis Schwartz and I would like to run for the ride director position.  This would be my 3rd term.  I’m an avid cyclist and lead rides for the club all year around, as well as serve as rest stop coordinator for the QUAD and volunteer at other cycling events.    I also do self-supported bike camping and touring with others in SCU.   My role has been to help the clubs’ ride leaders with whatever they need to lead rides, new ride leader training, manage the ride leader awards and recognitions for our club members, while overall trying to keep things simple.  

My name is Scott Siegfried, and I am submitting my name for consideration to serve on the Executive Committee as IT Director for 2020.

I have been a member of SCU since 2016, I have very much enjoyed being an active cyclist with the club.    As many of you know, cycling has become an extremely important part of my life since joining the club.  The friends that I have made, and the health benefits that I have seen from riding with the club are truly a blessing.

For the past year I have enjoyed serving on the EC as the IT Director for the club.  During this past year, I have learned a lot about the way our systems are setup, and have enjoyed helping to facilitate the technology side of the various virtual events that the club has run.  In addition, I helped to facilitate the COVID related membership extensions, and performed general system maintenance and updates for the 3 sites (ClubExpress, Facebook, Meetup) that are run by the club.

While serving on the board this past year, I have also continued to lead and sweep many rides at the various ride sites since group riding has been permitted.

Given that I have roughly 30 years of experience as an IT professional, plus my “on the job” experience for the past year, I feel that I am well suited to continue to facilitate the technology needs for the club for the coming year.

Earlier this year Steve Muth stepped up to make the 2019 Quad a success and now we need someone to handle the event for the upcoming year. My background with cycling and cycling clubs (SCU and BCP), and my professional background, seem well suited to take on this role.

I live in Chestnut Hill and ride year-round, mostly in Philadelphia, Montgomery and Bucks counties. I've been handling IT for SCU since the end of last summer. For the past two years, I helped with the Quad, working on publicity, registration, and coordinating SAG. Since 2016, I've been the director of BCP's Scenic Schuylkill Century, and currently serve as BCP's Vice President for Rides.

Professionally, I teach Computer Science at Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) and work as a specialty software development consultant and author. At CCP I have served as Dean and Department Chair, managing over a hundred faculty members and several thousand students.   Consulting clients have included the Defense Department, Department of the Treasury, AT&T, United Engineers, and others. I'm an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Years ago I was the Program Director for Rotary Scout Training Center, a large Boy Scout camp in upstate New York.

It takes a team of dedicated people and the backing of a sound organization to operate an event like the Quad.  SCU is a well-managed club with many good members and quite a few people who have been dedicated to the club's signature event for the past 20 years. I would be proud to work with the club leadership in helping to shape the Quad as we move toward the next 20 years.

Way back in the late 1990s, a friend of mine suggested that I go over to Hatboro Horsham High School and introduce myself to Doug and Linda Mueller as I had been riding alone for a good number of years since I had moved to Lansdale. One thing led to another and by the next season I was riding with the club regularly on Tuesday, Thursday, and on the weekends. One thing led to another and the following year I started leading rides. One thing led to another and Doug convinced me to take over from Wendell Gulick and became the coordinator of the Quad county and Noxamixon rides’ rest stops. One thing led to another and Doug, and Linda, again convinced me to become the club’s treasurer for the standard 4 year run taking over for Michael Katz and working closely with Al Herman to get the club on solid financial ground and obtaining our nonprofit status. After taking a break from club duties for several years, last year, with again (you guessed it) some nudging from Doug and since the position was empty, I volunteered to be the safety and legislation director. This past year, even though we have faced some challenges in this time of Covid-19, the SCU Executive Committee has done a great job in keeping the club moving forward. We foster ride leaders and encourage full involvement from our members all the while endeavoring to ensure that everyone is kept secure on the roads. It’s job worth doing and again this year, I am here to help.
