This calendar is presented by Suburban Cyclists Unlimited, and lists recreational bicycle events that take place within approximately 150 miles of Horsham, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. See Other Bicycle Event Calendars for bicycle events outside of the 150-miles-from-Horsham coverage area of the SCU calendar. Unless marked "SCU", these events are not affiliated with, nor endorsed by, Suburban Cyclists Unlimited. Events are subject to cancellation, and dates may change. Please read the disclaimer!

Sun. Feb. 11, 2018, Stop, Swap and Save, Westminster, MD. Indoor swap meet; 9:00am-2:00pm.

Sun. Feb. 25, 2018, Sourland Semi-Classic, Hopewell, NJ. This is a hilly 60-mi ride that explores the Sourlands Region of Central New Jersey, with some unpaved roads. Kermesse Sport

March 5–7, 2018, National Bike Summit, Washington DC. Bicycle-advocacy meetings. League of American Bicyclists

Sun. March 18, 2018, Hell of Hunterdon, Blawenburg, NJ. This is a hilly 82-mi Belgian-themed ride in Hunterdon, Mercer and Somerset Counties, NJ. The challenging course features 19 sections of dirt, gravel and hardscrabble roads (covering approximately 15% of the course).

Sat. April 7, 2018, Fools Classic, Point Pleasant, PA. This is a hilly 79-mi ride with 27 sectors of dirt/gravel roads and 6,000 ft of climbing. Kermesse Sport

Sun. April 8, 2018, Gravel Grape Crusher, Landenberg, PA. This is a mixed-terrain ride (paved and gravel roads). Velo Amis, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)(3).

Sat. April 14, 2018, Monkey Knife Fight, Emmaus, PA. This is a mixed-terrain ride (paved and gravel roads).

Sat. April 14, 2018, Taxing Metric Century, Warwick County Park, Knauertown, PA. Ride 22, 32 or 63 mi. Lunch stop with hot homemade soups and baked goodies. Benefits Bethesda Project - "A Caring Family for Philadelphia's Homeless".

Sat. April 14, 2018, TSR Spring Classic, Easton, MD. Benefits Talbot Special Riders, an organization which provides equine therapy to youth and adults with developmental disorders.

Sat. April 21, 2018, Cumberland Valley Rail-Trail Race, Run, Ride & Ramble, Shippensburg, PA. 19-mi bike ride; 9-mi walk; 1-mi, 5k or 15k run. All events take place on the Cumberland Valley Rail-Trail.

Sun. April 22, 2018, Lu Lacka Wyco Hundo, Jenkins Township, PA (near Pittston). This is a hilly mixed-terrain ride (paved and gravel roads) in the beautiful Wyoming Valley of Northeastern Pennsylvania. 2018 date from BikeReg.com.

Sun. April 22, 2018, Tour de Staten Island, New York, NY. Ride 35 or 50 mi. Benefits Transportation Alternatives.

April 27-29, 2018, Face of America. Choice of two routes: 1) ride from Valley Forge to Gettysburg, 120-mi one-way, or 2) ride from the Pentagon in Arlington, VA, to Gettysburg, PA, 110-mi one-way. Ride with servicemen who have been severely injured in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

April 27-29, 2018, Lewes Weekend, Lewes, DE. Ride 20-to-65-mi per day on flat terrain. Registration includes motel accommodations. Potomac Pedalers Touring Club (PPTC)

Sat. April 28, 2018, Fleche Buffoon, New Hope, PA. This is a hilly 75-mi ride entirely on paved roads through Bucks County, PA, and Hunterdon County, NJ, with 14 steep climbs totaling 6,100 ft of elevation gain. Kermesse Sport

Sat. April 28, 2018, Ocean to Bay Bike Tour, Bethany Beach, DE.

Sun. April 29, 2018, Tour de Franklin, Somerset, NJ. Ride 10, 25, 40 or 62 mi on-road, or 5-10 mi on- and off-road D&R Canal Towpath route. See event website for mass-start times. Breakfast, lunch and break stops are provided, and all participants who register before April 2 are guaranteed a T-shirt. Fundraising is optional. Benefits the Franklin Township Foodbank.

May 2018

May 4-6, 2018, Spring-n2-Cycling Weekend, Danville, PA. Ride various distances on your own or on group rides with leaders. Registration includes cue sheets, meals, snacks, parties, and hotel accommodations. Sign up early – always sells out! Bicycle Club of Philadelphia (BCP)

Sat. May 5 or May 5-6, 2018, Bike4Beds Alloway and Wildwood Events, Woodstown, NJ. Saturday: 45-mi Alloway loop, or 100-mi one-way Woodstown-Wildwood; Sunday (optional): 100-mi one-way Wildwood-Woodstown. Fundraising is optional. Benefits the Cavaillon Orphanage in Haiti.

Sat. May 5, 2018, Cinco de Mayo Benefit Bike Ride and Walk, Exton, PA. Fundraising is optional. Benefits the Pennsylvania Center For Adapted Sports.

Sat. May 12, 2018, Iron Furnace Fifty Bicycle Ride, Snow Hill, MD. Ride 31, 50 or 62 mi on flat terrain. Benefits education programs at Furnace Town, and college scholarships awarded by Snow Hill Rotary.

Sat. May 12, 2018, Pedal for Promise, Tabernacle, NJ. $100 minimum fundraising, benefiting UrbanPromise.

Sat. May 12, 2018, Ride for Literacy, Manheim Township Community Park, Lititz, PA. Ride 10, 21 or 43 mi through Lancaster County farmland; combine two routes for a metric century. Additional ride information on Active.com. Benefits Sunrise Rotary of Lancaster

Wed. May 16, 2018, Ride of Silence. Simultaneous, free events at many locations including Doylestown and Philadelphia. Please see the event's website for a complete list of start locations - too many to list here! 7:00pm ride start, but come early for the pre-ride dedication ceremony.

Sat. May 19, 2018, SCU Quad County Century, Green Lane, PA. Start from scenic Green Lane Park in rural western Montgomery County, and ride 26, 47, 55, 68, 82 or 106 mi on rolling-to-hilly terrain in low-traffic sections of Montgomery, Bucks, Berks, and Lehigh Counties. May 25-28, 2018, Kent County Spring Fling, Chestertown, MD. Four days of riding on the Eastern Shore, with meals and lodging at Washington College. Baltimore Bicycle Club

May 31 - June 3, 2018, Ride For Homes, Philadelphia, PA to Easton, PA. Limited to 40 riders. $1,200 minimum fundraising. Benefits Habitat for Humanity. 2018 date from Facebook.

Sun. June 10, 2018, French Creek Iron Tour, Phoenixville, PA. Ride 11, 20, 32, 50, 62, 75 or 100 mi, rolling-hilly (474-5,665 ft climbing). No day-of-event registration. Benefits the French and Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust.

Sat. June 16, 2018, Greater Philadelphia Tour de Cure, Temple University Ambler Campus, Ambler, PA. Benefits the American Diabetes Association.

June 23-24, 2018, Pennsylvania Hope Ride, Hershey, PA. Benefits the American Cancer Society.

Sun. June 24, 2018, Black Tie Tour, Hopewell, NJ. $150 minimum fundraising, benefits the Capital Health Center for Oncology at Capital Health Medical Center - Hopewell.

Sat. June 30, 2018, Propel 100, Kennedy Center, Willingboro, NJ. This is a new event for 2018. Ride 11, 25, 44 or 62 mi on cycling-friendly roads through Burlington County. No day-of-event registration. Organized by Goals Start Now and benefiting cancer patient support services at Virtua Memorial Hospital.

Sept. 29-30, 2018, MS150 City to Shore Ride, Cherry Hill, NJ, to Ocean City, NJ. Multiple start locations; ride 1 or 2 days, 25-180 mi total. Benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

October 2018

Wed.-Sun. Oct. 3-7, 2018, Tour de Pines, various start locations in the Pinelands National Reserve, NJ. Five consecutive single-day (loop) bicycle tours of the scenic, low-traffic New Jersey Pinelands. Ride 1-5 days for one registration fee. This unusual event has ride leaders, but no road markings - read the F.A.Q. (PDF). Bring or buy your own food. The ride leader will average 11-13 mph, but faster groups will go off the front and follow the cue sheet. Benefits the Pinelands Preservation Alliance.

Sat. Oct. 6, 2018, Sea Gull Century, Salisbury University, Salisbury, MD. Ride 65 or 100 mi on the flat Eastern Shore of Maryland. 7,500 riders.

Oct. 7, 2018, Anne Arundel County Lifeline 100 Century, Millersville, MD. Ride 15, 30, 62 or 100 mi through scenic Anne Arundel County. The 15- and 30-mi routes utilize the paved B&A and BWI trails.

All distances are listed in miles ("mi"). To convert to metric: 1 mi = 1.6 km; 1 km = 0.62 mi. 31 mi = Half Metric Century (50 km); 62 mi = Metric Century (100 km). All rides are on-road tours unless noted off-road. All events provide water stops, cue sheets, marked route, and SAG support, unless noted, but SCU is not responsible for the services provided at events on this calendar. All rides return to the starting location unless marked "one-way". Two-day events are Saturday-Sunday and three-day events are Friday-Sunday unless marked otherwise. There are no ride leaders for these events, and you ride at your own pace.

Suburban Cyclists Unlimited does not list other clubs' rides that conflict with the major SCU events (May 20, 2017 - Quad County Metric). Commercial tours are not listed other than from sponsors of SCU or at the discretion of the editor. Indoor "spinning" events and randonnee events are not listed on this calendar.

Suburban Cyclists Unlimited is a recreational bicycle club, and we do not support or promote racing. Triathlons, duathlons, amateur races, criteriums and time trials are not listed on this web site.
